Marketing Tip Tuesday: Spread the Love
Hello everyone, and welcome to another week of Marketing Tip Tuesday!
In honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow, I'd like to talk briefly about some ways that you can "spread the love": that is, how you can show your audience that you value them.
When posting on social media and evaluating how to best represent your brand to potential consumers, it can be easy to get wrapped up in extolling all of the brand's accolades and benefits. While this is important for communicating value - and perceived value generates brand loyalty - it is equally important to make sure that your audience feels seen and heard. This relates to our very first Marketing Tip, regarding engagement. So, how can you accomplish this perception? Well, there are a few ways:
- Ask your audience questions, not necessarily related to your product or service. Is it a holiday? Ask what everyone is doing to celebrate. Let's say your product is food-related: ask a question regarding favorite snacks or favorite snack-time activities (such as watching TV). The key takeaway here is that your brand should exhibit a significant interest in the lives of your audience. It is "social" media, after all!
- Host contests with affordable but valuable prizes. This tactic is an especially popular choice for one of my clients, as their brand deals with products that are inexpensive to produce, and relatively easy to package and distribute - especially as a sample. So, we've hosted multiple contests throughout the past few months, all with simple ways to win a full-size sample (or two)! This is a great option - especially for snack foods - because it's often cheap, straightforward, and the perfect way to get product into the hands of potential new customers!
- Repost testimonials or product reviews. When members of your audience turn into loyal consumers and extol the virtues of your product or service, it's important to encourage that behavior! Whether you make a simple graphic that quotes a client's testimonial for your service; or repost a photo that a customer has taken with your product (with their permission), it's important to show that you value their business and their loyalty. This can inspire other consumers to follow suit, thus producing more (free) marketing for your brand.
Hopefully this gives you a few ideas for how you can make your audience feel appreciated and "loved". Regardless of which tactics you choose to utilize, just ask yourself: how would I want a brand to respond if I consistently patronized their product or service?
That's all for today's Marketing Tip Tuesday! I hope that everyone has a great week, and I'll see you back here on February 27th.
Happy Valentine's Day!
